Using Nutrition To Battle Disease

August 15th, 2009

There have been many controversies over the use of diet to battle disease, such as diabetes and other disease that affect America’s children. Obesity is one of the largest problems in the United States for children under 18 years of age and along with obesity, type2 diabetes is affecting more children than ever before.
The debates about nutrition being used to battle diseases like type 2 diabetes is that with each study that is released there is different information leaving America’s parents unsure of what they should do to help their children. These debates even include whether soy products are safe in place of homogenized milk or margarine. I tend to recommend fish oil, Himalayan goji juice as well as acai juice and other superfoods. In particular, Himalayan goji juice made from the goji or worlf berry and acai juice have made a difference with me personally.
Another thing that has been under debate and is confusing for parents of obese children is the labels on products, this while helpful is still not clear enough for the average consumer according to experts . They believe the food information that is put out in numerous newspapers, magazines and tabloids is helping to confuse American’s about nutrition.

Study Finds Bone And Joint Supplements For Pets Lacking

August 14th, 2009

According to a study done by ConsumerLabs.com, some of the joint supplements that can be used to treat joint health in pets like cats, dogs and horses are missing the proper amount of key ingredients. The supplements should include glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate supplements, what was found is that at least six of these supplements that were tested did not contain the amounts of either glucosamine or chondrotin that are needed to treat osteoarthritis. When tested the supplements contained 5.4 percent of the claimed 17 percent of the glucosamine or chondrotin that is used for pain, soreness and inflammation in dogs, cats and horses. The MSM or methylsulfonylmethane was found to be at the correct published levels in the supplements and this is used for treating pain that is connected with muscle and tendon soreness, pain and inflammation in horses. In my opinion, many types of dog food I certainly do recommend a premium grade dog food such as that by Life’s Abundance, which is indeed one of the best.

Supplements Not Always The Answer For Good Health

August 12th, 2009

There are many people that depend on supplements as a way of maintaining good health, to battle ailments, to retain memory and to live a longer life. This according to some experts may not be the answer for optimum health.
One of the reasons for this is that not all supplements have the guaranteed contents, this is because supplements and herbal products are not regulated in the same way as other types of medications are and that leaves their ingredients open for the manufacturer to decide.
There is also the fact that many Americans do not know the proper type of dietary supplement their body needs, and this includes supplements that are manufactured for certain ages, for males or females and other things. So whether you eata diet of gourmet cookies homemade cookies, praline candy or green smoothies keep this stuff in mind. Personally I prefer the gourmet cookies. It is also important when purchasing supplements to stick with companies that have sound records, rather than ones that claim their dietary supplements are better than others.

Change Can Reduce Obesity Experts Say

August 10th, 2009

According to some experts changing the lifestyle can change the obesity rate in the United States; there are approximately two-thirds of adults that are overweight or obese and about one-fifth of America’s children.
Experts are urging parents to change how their children live, believing obesity has become a health crisis in this country. They believe banning television in children’s rooms is one way of changing a child’s level of activity. They also believe that there should be a tax placed on soda containing sugar.
Each year the obesity epidemic is said to cost the United States billions of dollars and it also means that each generation of Americans could have a shorter life span with unhealthy weight gain. I mean, if you are going to eat gourmet cookies or Pecan Praline, make them the healthy kind. If you are going to buy cookies or make homemade cookies or gourmet cookies, etc then use organic flour and organic sugar etc and go easy on the butter. There is a healthy way to make these types of foods.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is aiming to cut childhood obesity dramatically by the year 2015 and have outlined approximately two dozen steps that can be taken to lessen children’s weight gain. These steps include not having televisions in children’s rooms, and making it easier for people to purchase fresh foods.

Family Pet Suffering From Obesity In Italy

August 8th, 2009

According to new research family pets in Italy are suffering from obesity, with 42 percent of cats in the country obese, followed by dogs at 36 percent being obese. The survey that was done was released by Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
The study that was done by a group of veterinarians, nutritionists, and university staff that have name themselves the pet obesity task force. They reported that the percentages that were found in Italy are in line with the percentages found in the rest of Europe, with the United Kingdom having at least 40 percent of canines overweight and 25 percent that are considered obese.
France comes in with lower percentages of obesity, with only 5 percent of dogs being obese, but 39 percent of dogs being overweight. They might try a different dog food. A good premium dog food like life’s Abundance can make a big difference overall.
My theory is that many of the larger commercial dog food manufacturers have fattening dog food in gneral.
Part of the problem is believed to be the lifestyle of the pets and their owners, with a many living in apartments. Cats that are overweight that live in gardens are a percentage of 36, while the rest of the obese cats live indoors

The Foreign Minister’s Thoughts on Immigration

August 4th, 2009

Jorge Castañeda, foreign minister of Mexico from 2000 until 2003 writes in the Los Angeles Times Online Newspaper: Mexican immigration does have distinctive traits that do make difficult, if not impossible, the automatic assimilation that characterized previous waves of immigration. This is not a question of lack of will; it is a matter of history. That is why the United States must make a major effort to construct a new type of assimilation that is both voluntary and effective. The legalization of Mexican workers and their families, a constant and energetic battle to fight discrimination against Mexicans and a concerted effort to ease the road to citizenship are some of the essential features of such an effort. Samuel Huntington, a Harvard political science professor, has made the claim that the United States is threatened because of the masses of Mexican immigrants are not assimilating into mainstream American society. Orange County Latinos, predominantly of Mexican stock are at ground zero fof this debate. There are of course, also some workers trends and employment issues. For more employment news and worker related headlines this is en excellent resource overall.

Armored Cars-A History

August 2nd, 2009

Alright, back from Seattle: Armored cars with machine guns mounted in a turret were used extensively by the British in the Middle East when they put down the Iraqi uprising aganst their rule their in the 1920’s.
This helped to usher in a new age where armored cars would play a pivotal role in warfare. Armored cars had already been used in the Italo-Turkish Conflict (1911-12) and World War 1 (1914-18)
as well as the Russian revolution but it was the British version of the 1920’s where it began to look similiar to todays armored vehicles. Changing topics for a brief moment, if you are in need of aqualified Seattle DUI attorney I can certainly suggest this firm and also for auto and automobile lawyer as well. Very fine DUI attorney indeed and has been serving Seattle for a very long time now. By the time the world war 2 broke out many countries were in fact employing armored cars in sizeable numbers overall. By the way if you need armored cars, armored SUV’s or even Armored luxury cars then may I suggest to you Exec Armor. They specialize in Armored Cars as well as Bulletproof cars plus other armored vehicles. A good place to be if you ever find yourself in an auto or car accident. As a matter of fact, they became the backbone of reconnaissance units which were attached to armored and motorized formations. For their part, the Weirmacht had maybe the best armored cars of their era and Hanz Guderian had developed the now famous “Blitzkrieg” stratgy which which overran numerous western European and Balkan countries in the opening stages of the war to end all wars.Prior to the war, armor was used sparingly, each division had a few tanks and armored cars.
These are good places to be, safe from DUI drivers lol. However, Guderian proposed that the infantry divisions have no armor but that Armored or ‘Panzer’ Divisions and Motorized divisions be lavishly equipped with them so as to create massive holes in enemy lines. Not only did he advocate that, but also that these armored divisions be an “all-arms” force with everything that was needed
to support the tanks and exploit the holes ripped in the lines.

July 29th, 2009

The Virginia City police chief was accused of DUI at more than twice the legal Virginia limit. This story comes out Alexandria, Virginia and news is coming out that the police chief will be resigning. The Alexandria City manager James K. Hartman announced that the Virginia police Chief David Baker is resigning from his position. David Baker is a 58 year old man and will be resigning on Tuesday. The City Alexandria is saying the Executive Deputy Police Chief Earl Cook will now act as chief of police. But if you live in the Chicago area and need the best Chicago dui lawyer then I suggest Mathew Miller. Mr. Miller is the best Chicago dui lawyer around. Mr. Baker was charged with DUI after he was involved in a car accident in Arlington, Virginia. The police are saying Mr. Barker’s blood alcohol level was 0.19. That is more than double the legal limit. Mr. Baker’s lawyer is saying that his client did not plan on resigning. In other dui news, Michael Latimer has been charged with DUI and reckless homicide on the South Side in a crash that resulted in the death of a passenger in his vehicle and four others were injured. Also a 9 year old was struck by a light pole and knocked over. Michael Latimer is 33 year old man of the 6300 block of south Evans ave. Mr. Latimer was charged with aggravated DUI and reckless homicide in Chicago, IL. Four males were inside the striking vehicle and three females were in the one he allegedly hit, Grand Crossing District police Lt. Timothy Bickham said. After colliding with the females’ vehicle, he hit a light pole that fell on a 9-year-old who was standing on the sidewalk, he said. A backseat passenger suffered head trauma after becoming trapped inside and was dead on the scene, Bickham said. Matthew Miller is a great Chicago dui lawyer and I suggest Mathew Miller for cases involving these facts. He is the best Chicago dui lawyer around. Fire spokesman Will Knight said five people, including a child, were initially hospitalized in critical condition.

Excerpts from the OC Metro Publication

July 18th, 2009

In California Latino related news, Paul Sterman writes in an interesting column for the highly respected online news publication OC Metro about the progress of Latino owned businesses not only in California but really across the nation as a whole.:
It’s an electric time: There are more Latino-owned businesses in the country than ever; such companies are basically spanning high-profile industries that once were less accessible to Spanish speakers; and Latino businesses are adding billions of dollars a year to the nation’s overall (Gross Domestic Product). I have paraphrased alittle bit to save space or clarify certain phrases.
What is more, all in all, the the current major shift appears to be an indication of an even more powerful future overall: “There is indeed massive growth, I mean really massive growth,” states one Raul Medrano, a Santa Ana, California Chamber of Commerce board member plus immediate past president of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce.
“What we see now is just the tip of the iceberg,” he adds. “As (Latino) businesses evolve, they’re going to be more sophisticated. They’re not only growing” More information can be found over at the California News blog, including a plethera of safety, regulatory, technolgy and business news headlines from the Golden State of California.
