The Virginia City police chief was accused of DUI at more than twice the legal Virginia limit. This story comes out Alexandria, Virginia and news is coming out that the police chief will be resigning. The Alexandria City manager James K. Hartman announced that the Virginia police Chief David Baker is resigning from his position. David Baker is a 58 year old man and will be resigning on Tuesday. The City Alexandria is saying the Executive Deputy Police Chief Earl Cook will now act as chief of police. But if you live in the Chicago area and need the best Chicago dui lawyer then I suggest Mathew Miller. Mr. Miller is the best Chicago dui lawyer around. Mr. Baker was charged with DUI after he was involved in a car accident in Arlington, Virginia. The police are saying Mr. Barker’s blood alcohol level was 0.19. That is more than double the legal limit. Mr. Baker’s lawyer is saying that his client did not plan on resigning. In other dui news, Michael Latimer has been charged with DUI and reckless homicide on the South Side in a crash that resulted in the death of a passenger in his vehicle and four others were injured. Four males were inside the striking vehicle and three females were in the one he allegedly hit, Grand Crossing District police Lt. Timothy Bickham said. After colliding with the females’ vehicle, he hit a light pole that fell on a 9-year-old who was standing on the sidewalk, he said. A backseat passenger suffered head trauma after becoming trapped inside and was dead on the scene, Bickham said. Matthew Miller is a great Chicago dui lawyer and I suggest Mathew Miller for cases involving these facts. He is the best Chicago dui lawyer around. Excerpts from the OC Metro Publication

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

In California Latino related news, Paul Sterman writes in an interesting column for the highly respected online news publication OC Metro about the progress of Latino owned businesses not only in California but really across the nation as a whole.:
It’s an electric time: There are more Latino-owned businesses in the country than ever; such companies are basically spanning high-profile industries that once were less accessible to Spanish speakers; and Latino businesses are adding billions of dollars a year to the nation’s overall (Gross Domestic Product). I have paraphrased alittle bit to save space or clarify certain phrases.
What is more, all in all, the the current major shift appears to be an indication of an even more powerful future overall: “There is indeed massive growth, I mean really massive growth,” states one Raul Medrano, a Santa Ana, California Chamber of Commerce board member plus immediate past president of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce.
“What we see now is just the tip of the iceberg,” he adds. “As (Latino) businesses evolve, they’re going to be more sophisticated. They’re not only growing” More information can be found over at the California News blog, including a plethera of safety, regulatory, technolgy and business news headlines from the Golden State of California.

Orange County Latino News Interview

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Writing for Orange County Latino News, Yolanda Alvarez writes:
(by the way this article has been slightly modified and paraphrased to save some space and to clarify certain words or terms) In a certain sense, the exhibit, “Fire in the Morning,” attempts to present a fuller picture of Mexican Americans and the challenges the communities had to face. There is really something quite unique and also distinct about having lived in the scattered Mexican neighborhoods or “colonias” of the county which makes individuals state with happiness and even some pride that they are from Santa Anita, California or perhaps La Paloma, Travelers, plus Campo or Denver, Colorado. All in all, despite a certain degree of poverty from the extremely bad wages, the richness is in the heritage, the close-knit nature of the individuals who lived the joys and tragedies life had to offer as a whole here.
The stories of our (older people) may indeed open up a certain specific level of understanding and empathy overall which helps us look at our own various strength, smarts or even determination. From the story regarding the elementary school child (now much older) who got kicked in the shins by a school teacher for just speaking Spanish, to the large wedding at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Ana, California, there are thousands more stories just waiting to be shared. No (one single0 book or file exists in any Orange County library history room that named all or most of the Mexican colonias of Orange County. Because of this, I continue to go about the county to interview Mexican-Americans who have the stories of Orange County to tell from their own viewpoint.” As an aside if you happen to live in Denver or nearby areas like Boulder or Glenwoord Springs and you need a qualified Denver personal Injury Attorney then may I suggest the law offices of Larry Lee. He is an experienced Denver personal injury attorney who can assist you not only in Denver but also places like Carbondale, Aspen and Cripple Creek as well.

Hawaii Dangerous Criminals Picked Up In Numbers

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

In an operation named Falcon, there were 237 fugitives that were picked up including sexual predators and other violent criminals across Hawaii. The operation also allowed marshals to seize drugs and cash, from Hawaii’s most wanted criminals.
According to Deputy Donna Diaz of the U.S. Marshals Service the operation included houses, gated communities, and beach structures. The month of June there were 237 felons captured and this included a man identified as Eugene Tupuola wanted for attempted murder of his estranged wife. Derek States, is another man that has been on the run for nine years that was captured in Thailand. When I was in Hawaii I remember going to the Hawaii Nissan dealership to rent a nice little Nissan vehicle. it was a cool thing to just cruise around the island.
The operation included beside the U.S. Marshals, more than 100 state, local and federal officers, these other officers were from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Drug Enforcement Administration, Rapid Reduction Drug Unit, Hawaii Police Department, Kauai Police Department, Maui Police Department, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service

California News-Lawsuit Filed in Runaway Car Case

Monday, July 13th, 2009

In California safety and regulatory headlines from the bay area, a legal suit was filed after a horrid accident whereby a runaway vehicle smacked into a Girl Scout Stand. According to the mainstream media reports, a female has filed a lawsuit against a man named Paul Glad, after his said car smacked into into a gathering of Girl Scouts who were hawking their product in front of a supermarket. The defendent, according to the suit, injured a mother and her daughter after he failed to put his car in park. Talk about a safety violation for crying out loud. He had halted to buy the cookies from them and got out of his car without putting it into the park postiotion. When he realized the vehicle was moving in an attempt to stop it he hit the accelerator. Go to California News for more safety, general plus regulatory related headlines from out of the golden state.
Holly Rogers age 49 and her 7year old daughter were both injured when the car careened into the Girl Scouts. Rogers suffered injuries including having her leg amputated. Rogers daughter Caroline Schoustra sustained multiple leg fractures. This is one of the most tragic and unfortuinate safety and/or regulatory violations that I can remember in the state of California in a very long time. According to the Seach Gallagher of San Mateo County deputy district attorneys office, they have not filed criminal charges against Glad yet.

Driver Apparently Disrupts Train Traffic

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

In rather bizarre news from the San Francisco Bay area, an individual identified as Christian Valle, who is about nineteen years old, according to the authorities hit a sign in Sunnyvale at about 7:30 or so in the morning and then attempted to push the damaged car across the tracks for commuter rail traffic. All in all, according to the local authorities, the distance between the sign Valle struck and the San Francisco commuter railway tracks were about three blocks he drove and then began pushing the damaged vehicle at the tracks. By the way if you need a superb San Francisco personal injury lawyer I do recommend the LAw offices of Scott Righthand as he is one of the premier personal injury attorney around the bay area.
Valle did not get the damaged Volkswagen Jetta across the tracks, when a northbound train demolished the car. Valle jumped out of the way of the train prior to it striking the car and there was no personal injury reported. He will need a good lawyer though I think.

According to police Captain James Bouziane Valle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended drivers license and leaving the scene of an accident.

Loan Paybacks for Students made somewhat easier

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

I noticed that lawsuit funding and related issues are in the news a lot lately and it seems that the relatively unstable economic conditions of the present are hitting home, with work somewhat difficult to obtain in certain regions of the country as a while. As a result of all this economic turmoil, some college graduates are sadly discovering that must take what they can get sometimes, just to basically make ends meat and begin chipping away at their debt burden. The Federal Government has made it easier for these students that are in debt to get some kind of funding.
All in all, the changes in question which they have formulated to assist these students was initiated by the Federal Education Dept. and is named the Income Based Repayment Plan. This particular program that adjusts the size of the federal student loan payments, is currently based on the overall size of the paycheck and the students family size. As an aside if you require, lawsuit funding help then may I suggest the Law offices of happy Rock LLC. They can assist with a wide array of lawsuit funding related issues. You may want to give them a try as they are very good at what they do. Now back to the story at hand:
Generally speaking, the said repayment plan is based on 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines for the student’s overall family size. Under this new funding program, if a student does not have their federal student loans paid back within the 25 year limit the amount that is still due including interest will be forgiven.

Internet Schools on the rise Nationally

Friday, July 10th, 2009

I just returned from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and thought that I would post this story for you all. The price of higher education is getting even more steep as many kids are looking for cheaper alternatives. I mean, you should not have to go into credit card debt or have to get credit counseling just to get an education. The estimate right now is that over the next 10 years or so the student will pay some $31,949. a year for a 4 year college overall. By the way if you need pennsylvania credit card debt counseling this firm can help. They are based in Philadelphia, pennsylvania and can also assist in things like auto credit as well as free credit report so that you can see your rating. All in all, in a survey which was taken of more than one hundred higher learning institutions, their particular response was that they think by the year 2020 most college students will be taking over 50% of their classes entirely on the world wide web. There will be exceptions of course. That gets a good rating in my book. For instance, you will certainly not seeing the Emotional growth boarding schools or perhaps some therapeutic boarding schools on the web replacing brick and morter facilities at this point in time..
In research completed with students who are taking web courses, those students preformed better overall than those students that are receiving face-to-face instruction. The online students spent more time on task than the students in a classroom environment while at least having the ability to shop for the best bargain for online college classes of their choice, and they won’t have to go into credit card debt to do it!

Prosecutor Leaving Office for Criminal Defense

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

In San Jose criminal defense news, prosecutor Ben Field has decided to leave the District Attorneys Office after a state bar judge suggested that the San Jose/Santa Clara County prosecutor be suspended for four years for ethical misconduct. All in all, this suggestion for suspension has it’s genesis in a California Bar Court Judge Pat McElroy recommendation, after the court found that Field had abused his prosecutorial powers in a criminal way and had committed misconduct in perhaps 4 or more criminal cases. According to a sixty-seven or so page ruling, the Judge in question said that the prosecutor was wrong because he went against the judge’s orders and withheld crucial evidence from the defense attorney which could have assisted their defense of their clients. If you need a good San Jose Criminal Defense Attorney then I would like to suggest the law offices of Edward Adjlouny as he is one of the best criminal defense attorney in all of San Jose. The ruling has not taken affect until after Field’s appeal, and the soon to be former prosecutor stated he will fight this ruling, even though he is leaving the prosecutors office. Even San Jose has some legal issues these days. In addition to all of this, He also stated the opportunity to work for social justice is too good of an opportunity to pass up. Fields plans to leave his position in the prosecutor’s office in August to take a position with the South Bay ALF-CIO Labor Council and their non-profit organization.
